Black Scribble is a writing club facilitated by author and filmmaker Darnell Lamont Walker. This writing club, designed for Black boys/men ages 10 - 21, is a safe space to create and cultivate the beauty of words, understand the process of writing and to dig deeply into how to express themselves through written word. The event is being organized and hosted by Beyond Barcodes Bookstore.

Darnell Lamont Walker is a writer (Blue’s Clues & You, Two Whats?! And a Wow, Karma’s World), filmmaker (Seeking Asylum, Outside the House, Set Yourself on Fire), teacher, and a healer, currently creating content in hopes that all children get to see themselves.  

This is an independently produced event by Beyond Barcodes Bookstore.

  • Cars: Free parking is available across the street at Brookside Elementary.
